Requirement To prevent failures, the rolling element bearing of a rotary piston blower is to be monitored. So far, the blower has been checked by an external service provider in an intermittent cycle for bearing condition and machine condition. Now, permanent monitoring is to pave the way for condition-based maintenance to reliably prevent failures caused by faulty bearings. Implementation By means of a pulse test, suitable installation points on the housing of the rotary piston blower were determined, on which three vibration diagnosis sensors efector octavis (type VE1001) were installed. A magnetic sensor of the type MFS201 and a damping magnet (order no. E10751) detect the shaft speed of the frequency-controlled machine and provide this speed information to the speed input of the vibration diagnosis sensor efector octavis. Customer benefits The compact sensor assumes the task of vibration detection and evaluation and triggers pre-alarm or main alarm via two switching outputs in case of interference.
The system is permanently monitored and bearing damage is signalled in due time. Now, maintenance is condition-based. An external service provider is no longer required. This saves costs. | |
