Rugged R360 Classic Controllers Offers Advantages Over PLCs

• ifm offers a hardened PLC platform specifically designed for mobile vehicle applications.

• The R360 Classic Controller can withstand high levels of shock and vibration, EMI, and temperature extremes. There are no mechanical contacts that can wear or break. Special programming knowledge is not required because of the standardized IEC61131-3 software.

• Traditional industrial PLCs are applied on vehicles because of their flexibility. However, in order for them to withstand harsh environments, they are placed in expensive enclosures. Problems may develop from excessive temperatures, shock and vibration, and high EMI levels.

• The R360 ClassicController offers flexible configuration of input and output functions.

• Each controller is equipped with two CAN interfaces. A freely programmable CAN gateway can be implemented for coupling different networks.

• The controller supports most bus protocols that enables easy exchange of SAE J1939 and CANopen data.

• A user can easily integrate all functions in the application program via programming to IEC 61131-3.
